Our Story
Digital Defence was founded in 2003 by Robert Beggs, a Canadian security professional who spent years testing systems for the federal government before starting the firm.
For most of our history, that meant rigorous, hands-on penetration testing and a technical report.
Today it means Attack Path Security Validation (APSV) – our flagship methodology for mapping the route an attacker would actually take through an environment, then proving it through real testing.
The report used to be the finish line. Now it’s the start of a conversation with the people who decide what happens next.
What We Believe
We test the way attackers move.
Attackers chain small weaknesses together to reach what matters, they don't test one thing at a time. APSV is built to model that chain, not isolated findings.

Robert Beggs is the founder and CEO of DigitalDefence, Robert is a security practitioner with more than 15 years of experience. He has been responsible for the technical leadership and project management of more than 300 consulting engagements, including policy development and review, standards compliance, penetration testing of wired and wireless networks, third party security assessments, incident response and data forensics, and other consulting projects. Rob is the Founder of the Toronto Area Security Klatch, TASK and the Canadian Information Security Professionals group on LinkedIn, as well as being a thought leader, conference speaker, and author.
