Activity Monitoring

Is valuable corporate intellectual property leaving the company without
        your knowledge?

Are non-work related Internet activities costing you in lost productivity and
        network resources?

Are you and your employees protected from sexual harassment,
        defamation, and illegal activity lawsuits?

As an employer, you are liable for the online activities of your employees. Activities that could create an exposure, and eventual financial or legal liability, include:
  • Theft of corporate data by employees who sell the data to a competitor, or use it to start a competing company
  • Use of data and network resources in the commission of a fraud
  • Inappropriate use of corporate Internet resources, including excessive personal web surfing, visiting adult sites, downloading copy write protected material, or sending inappropriate e-mails
  • Failure to prove compliance with regulatory requirements

Financial and legal risks can be minimized, or even eliminated, if companies perform the due diligence of monitoring employee activities while they are connected your your network and its data resources.

Service Description

Digital Defence offers a remotely managed activity monitoring package that will ensure that dangerous employee behavior is monitored and immediately responded to.
After working with you to develop or refine your corporate Acceptable Use Policy and supporting HR practices, we will install monitoring agents and a network appliance on your network. Working with stealth-enabled agent software installed on user workstations, the central database will collect specific types of user activity:
  • Websites visited are recorded, including length of each visit, and any data downloaded during that session.  Extensive information is gathered during visits to social networking sites such as Facebook
  • e-mail, chat, and Instant Messaging activities can be fully logged, including data attachments
  • Access to proprietary information is monitored, and any removal of that data is recorded - theft of intellectual property is proved!
Should the need arise to conduct more directed investigation on an employee or a specific client computer, DigitalDefence has the tools to do it.  Deeper monitoring includes:
  • Screen snapshots— we can take a “picture” of what’s on the user’s monitor every couple of seconds. It’s like watching a video of the user’s activity on the computer! This is powerful evidence that will provide strong support for Human Resources or litigation matters
  • Keystroke recording can record all keystrokes and even capture special characters and hidden keystroke combinations.
  • Key word notification—A client can monitor a customized alert list for words input by keyboard, typed web addresses, emails, and chat conversations; these words could reflect proprietary data, or corporate strategy (e.g.: the name of a proposed acquisition target). Should one of your selected keywords be entered by a user, a notification is sent out immediately to flag further investigation.;
Monitoring logs are uploaded to the Digital Defence network without impeding or degrading network performance. The review of all captured activity is conducted off-site at a secured premises. Trained investigators (with law and military backgrounds, and matching security classifications) will then review the collected data for any evidence of policy violations, loss or theft of data, fraud or other criminal activities, or failure to meet compliance requirements. Digital Defence will permanently archive the data to a suitable storage medium, and securely archive it to support business or legal requirements.

As a managed service, Digital Defence provides an objective assessment of the facts - irrefutable evidence if wrong doing is detected.
